On August 15, 2025, at Changshu High-Tech Development Zone, Jiangsu Province, Rowena Albones, Managing Director Projects - Pilbara at Rio Tinto, visited Yahgee Group. During the visit, both parties inspected the first standardised accommodation unit prototype project and discussed possibilities for future cooperation.

Successful Delivery of the First Prototype

In January 2025, Yahgee and Rio Tinto entered into a collaboration to begin work on a standardised accommodation unit prototype project. The initiative, guided by Rio Tinto’s accommodation standards for iron ore miners, was managed jointly by the Rio Tinto China Sourcing team and the Iron Ore Sustaining Capital project team in cooperation with Yahgee, adhering to the established requirements.

Within six months, the two teams addressed various challenges in design, manufacturing, and testing, resulting in the delivery of the first prototype in Q3 2025. This project highlights Yahgee’s role in modular construction R&D and manufacturing, as well as Rio Tinto’s strong commitment to its supplier development program.

Deepening Cooperation, Looking Ahead

During the meeting, Mr. Ding Kun, General Manager of Yahgee, conveyed his expectation that this direct exchange would enhance mutual understanding between both parties. He also expressed a commitment to continually advancing products and services, aiming to deliver Rio Tinto safer, more comfortable, and reliable solutions for living and working environments.

Rowena Albones appreciated Yahgee employees for their commitment. She highlighted the prototype’s delivery as evidence of Yahgee’s expertise in modular construction and highlighted that standardised miner accommodation is vital for safety, comfort, and wellbeing, aligning with Rio Tinto’s strategic priority.

Moving Forward Together

The acceptance of the prototype marks both a review of previous cooperation and the beginning of future collaboration. Yahgee aims to strengthen its collaboration with Rio Tinto to advance standardised mining accommodation, enhance efficiency, and support sustainable development.
